There are just a few more things to know about the Auto Warranty Industry before you have a good base of product knowledge.
There are lots of different types of warranty coverage that include the following:
Exclusionary Coverage: the highest level of coverage, it is a list of exclusions (what’s not included with the plan, as that’s a shorter list than what is covered).
Named-Component: extensive coverage that lists out all the covered components.
Powertrain: coverage for only the engine and transmission of the vehicle.
There are many different term limits for warranties which give more time or mileage.
Month-to-Month / Unlimited Mileage plans: car owners keep these for as long as they like and pay a monthly premium. There is unlimited mileage with these plans and they are sometimes referred to as lifetime plans.
3/36 plans: an additional 3 years from today’s date or an additional 36,000 miles from the car owners current odometer reading.
4/48 plans: an additional 4 years from today’s date or an additional 48,000 miles from the car owners current odometer reading.
5/75 plans: an additional 5 years from today’s date or an additional 75,000 miles from the car owners current odometer reading.
6/100 plans: an additional 6 years from today’s date or an additional 100,000 miles from the car owners current odometer reading.
